Jose Manuel Collazo, a former Chicago resident, age 77, died April 14th, 2009 at Central Regional Florida Hospital in Deltona Florida.
Jose Manuel Collazo is survived by his second wife Benita Cruzado Collazo, his eleven children and their spouses are: Joseph and Delicia Collazo, Angel Manuel and Luisita Collazo, Jose Alberto and Kristin Collazo, Jose Luis and Lillian Collazo, Wilson and Sonia Collazo, Richard and Iris Collazo, Wilfredo and Delia Ramos, David and Awilda Sepulveda, Elvin and Alicia Collazo, Tony and Bernice Merced, and, Jose and Yolanda Laboy.
Jose Manuel Collazo is also survived by thirty-one grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Jose Manuel Collazo was preceded in death by his wife of forty-six years, Delia Jaime Collazo, his son William Collazo, and his grandson Mizraim Collazo. Jose Manuel Collazo was born on August 12th, 1931 in Humacao Puerto Rico to Evaristo Ortiz and Felicita Collazo.
He married Delia Jaime on June 28, 1953 in Puerto Rico. In 1996, after forty-two years of service, Jose Manuel Collazo retired from the Marriott Corporation and moved to Deltona Florida. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed church activities and working on his vegetable garden.
Jose Manuel Collazo was a generous man, with an incredibly kind heart and was an inspiration to his family. He lived his life with integrity and bravery until the end. Although we are sorrowful that he is no longer with us, we have the hope that we will see him again in heaven. Today we reflect and celebrate the legacy he has left behind.
